‘Ted’ the Angler fish was made for a Wearable art runway show with the theme ‘Underwater love’. It was a four week project in which we had to create a costume from recycled, scrap materials to wear down a catwalk.
‘Ted’ despite his scary appearance is actually quite an awkward creature that just wants to hang out with someone new as he’s been down in the deep sea for too long.

Design
Withy structure and fins made of net fabric painted with latex.
Covered the whole think in tissue paper.
Used pulled apart bin bags over halved plastic balls to create texture.
Stuffed fairy lights and sparkly tulle in the eye so it lit up.
Added sharp teeth made from withy and paper, then spray painted the mouth and dry brushed the skin texture.
